Don’t have your creditor account number with you now? No worries! For now, you can skip this step – just enter in your creditor name and all other info you have now. Later, when you have your statements and/or collection letters available, log back in to UGotiate and update your creditor list.
If you do not have creditor statements or collection letters, you should pull your credit report. Most credit reports will not provide full account numbers, but they do list partial account numbers. For now, you should list the partial account number from your credit report into UGotiate. Then, when you do eventually receive a letter from your creditor, you should be able to match the partial account number from your credit report to the number on the collection letter and update it in your list of account with UGotiate.
To pull your credit report for free, go to www.annualcreditreport.com. This is the only truly free credit report out there – you are allowed to request your credit report once a year for free through this site or by writing to the 2 credit reporting bureaus: Experian, Equifax and Transunion.
You want to enter in your creditor account numbers now so that you don’t have to worry about tracking down this info later when you are ready to print out letters or offers to your creditors. Once your account numbers are listed in your creditor list, Ugotiate will import your account numbers on all letters and offers that you create through the system. Enter in your account numbers know and you won’t have to search through your paperwork later when you are ready to print a letter or settlement offer.
